doctor’s note
As scientists, we measure what we do. We create studies, evaluate variables, and try to figure out the best course of action. Without objective points of reference, we can’t move forward and progress in a meaningful way.
I treat my business no differently, which is why we’ve asked you to fill out our annual patient survey (and a big thank you to all of you who have already done it). The survey serves two purposes:
- It allows us to figure out what you like and what you don’t like about us (and it’s anonymous, so we’re looking for critical feedback).
- It allows us to use “industry standard” questions so that we, as part of the DPC community, can start “proving” what we do — for better or worse.
So please join in this excellent scientific journey, and fill out the survey here. Current members completing the survey will, if they so choose, be entered to win a $75 gift certificate to Bread and Butter concepts — the organization behind tasty spots like The Oliver, Gram & Dun, Taco Republic, Urban Table, etc., etc.
OK, that’s all I have to say about the survey! Keep reading for news and updates!

this month’s health tip
This is more of a financial health tip than a generic health tip, but in the blog post we’re highlighting in this newsletter, we dive deep into the illogical cost of healthcare. This blog was published this summer — in conjunction with the Midwest DPC Alliance’s donation to relieve $1.4 million in medical debt — but it’s an important topic if you didn’t get a chance to read it previously.
clinic news
Reviews: this comes as no surprise to the small business owners we serve, but reviews are the lifeblood of any organization these days. If you like what we do, please let the world know on Yelp (we have no Yelp reviews!), Google, and Facebook! If you don’t like what we do, fill out our annual patient survey, and let us know how we can do better.
Holidays: As a reminder, the clinic will be closed for on Thanksgiving & the day after, on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, and on New Year’s Day. As always, Dr. Edwards is available by phone 24/7 should anything pop up while we’re out of the clinic.
New Staff: We are so appreciative of your patience as we have tried to find the right fit for our afternoon front desk staffer. That said, we’re excited to be able to announce that Tori Tummons has joined the staff as our administrative assistant in the afternoons! She’s only here through January (she’s got a great job lined up in Dallas), and we’ll be bringing on an RN to round out the staff with her depature. We know this is a lot of changing faces, but we’re dedicated to creating a better experience for you all by finding the right people who share the vision for better healthcare with less hassle.
New Doctor: On that note, we’re always looking to recruit other providers to expand and grow our work here at KCDPC. Please feel free to let anyone in your social circles know that we’d love a caring, enthusiastic family practice provider (MD/DO/NP/PA) to join our ranks. (And, at risk of jinxing ourselves — we’re in contract talks with a doctor to join us next summer! Stay tuned.)
KCDPC Out and About: We’ve enjoyed participating in several events this spring summer: the KCAI Involvement Fair, Greater KC Chamber of Commerce Small Business Celebration, Kamba Fit’s Helthy Happy Hour, the Rosedale Farmer’s Market, and Waldo’s Fall Fest — to name a few! We’re committed to participating in community events, and even though we can’t be everywhere all the time, we’d welcome invitations to whatever fun stuff you’ve got going on in the community. Let us know!
Art & Ideas: Paper Birch Landing, a Northtown gallery, has connected us with yet another round of great artists this quarter. Please mark your calendars (and invite others!) to join us for Art & Ideas, a quarterly event designed to celebrate local art, hang out, enjoy food and drink, and exchange ideas on Friday, November 19th, 2018 from 5-7pm!
